The passion for ragdolls

In January 2010 we lost our cat Caramel - a regular house cat, and we immediately went looking for a playmate for his brother Chili who should not be alone. We wanted a breed that would be a lively playmate for Chili and a social and affectionate family cat.

Jesper, who had experience with several breeds, would like a Ragdoll, because he had heard that this particular breed would fully meet all our hopes for a new member of the family.

After a lot of internet surfing, we found a small cattery DK Hollsedoll.dk on Funen here in Denmark, who had kittens. We went to visit them and their two new litters and were immediately convinced that a ragdoll kitten would be the right choice for us. We had to choose one of the kittens, although it was difficult. We would like to have a little male and therefore chose Alberto who has met all our expectations.

With help from DK Hollsedoll we started to show Alberto, and soon the decision to have more ragdoll cats was taken. During the summer of 2010 we officially became breeders of ragdolls and named our cattery DK Rags of Silk – a name that at the same time reflected the silklike ragdoll fur and the name of our home town Silkeborg which means “castle of silk” in Danish. We are registered within FIFe. Today we have 6 queens and 2 males. We show our cats regularly and are active members of the Danish Ragdoll Club.
